How this works

Research-based questions. Interpretive connections.

The questions are the public-domain 20-item Mini-IPIP, a brief measure of five broad personality traits. Its published research supports trait measurement, not matching people to biblical figures. The instrument is brief and less precise than a fuller assessment.

We preserve the item wording and use a 1–5 accuracy scale. Reverse-keyed items are scored as 6 minus your answer. Each trait is the mean of its four items. Emotional stability is the opposite direction of the instrument’s Neuroticism score. The displayed labels simplify Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Emotional Stability, and Intellect/Imagination. Scores are not population percentiles, IQ, diagnoses, or measures of faith.

Each character has an editor-created illustrative profile, inspired by selected passages. Biblical people did not take this test. A few scenes cannot establish a historical person’s complete personality. We compare your five scores to these profiles with equal-weight root-mean-square distance. The smallest distance comes first; exact ties are identified. A distance above 1 is labeled a loose fit by our editorial rule, not a scientific cutoff. There are no match percentages.

Scoring by item number: E = 1, 6R, 11, 16R; A = 2, 7R, 12, 17R; C = 3, 8R, 13, 18R; emotional stability = 4R, 9, 14R, 19; I = 5, 10R, 15R, 20R. R means reverse-scored.
